Location, Location, Location.. Cabo Pull Up!

Choosing your wedding location is about as easy as a Rubik’s Cube. From the number of guests, the accessibility of the location itself, to the amount of rooms you’ll need to hold a hotel block, the logistics can get quite complicated.

However, your wedding should really feel like it’s for you and your husband to-be, right? Now that we’re certain on a destination wedding, should it be on the Beach? Garden? Gazebo? Castle? Settling on a gazebo on the beach was simply the best route for us. “Seems just like Sam and Chris.” Okay maybe just like Sam- but Chris agreed to it. Happy wife, happy life!

Wedding Guests is next on our agenda. Are we having an adults-only wedding or including kids? Chris’ family is bursting with children, however mine isn’t, so this was a big decision we had to make. We decided on meeting in the middle.

Like all weddings, the number of guests you expect to have will dictate your wedding venue. Chris was all about the Caribbean, while I moseyed around Europe and further. How about Paris? London? However, our guests may not be into a 36-hour journey to Tahiti, so that was out. Caribbean wins! However, the Caribbean is chock-full with countries that would be great to host a destination wedding. We were able to narrow it down to three of our favorite countries- Anguilla, Jamaica and Mexico.

Anguilla was an easy choice for me because my family is natives of the island. That’ll be dope to get married there. While Anguilla is undeniably breath taking, there wasn’t a venue that caught our eye. Jamaica was next on the list. Unlimited Rum punches, soca music 24/7, and beautiful beaches. Now this I can get with. However, Chris was not with the 24/7 reggae bashment. We then researched Cancun and Cabo in Mexico. They also have beautiful beaches and stunning venues. They also had tacos and 24 hour room service. Two things that are dear to my heart (don’t judge me), so Cancun and Cabo were definitely the final 2 destinations.

Cancun? Cabo?

I’ve been to Cancun about 4 or 5 times and even though, it’s an amazing time, Cabo just had more to offer Chris and me. We spoke to a couple of wedding coordinators at a few venues in Cabo and one just stuck out. This wedding coordinator was on top of everything and understood our vision perfectly. She even executed a draft of what we wanted and it was perfection. BINGO! We’ve found our destination and venue!!!

We envision saying "I do" on white-sand shores in the Caribbean and this venue is picture-perfect. Cabo is unquestionably beautiful, from their sunsets to their gorgeous scenery. This venue is usually booked up from one to two years out, but our wedding coordinator let us know our date was available. This was definitely a sign that this was the right location! We were able to set a date and finally take a breather for a bit.

That breather was short lived once we saw what was next on the wedding planning agenda. Save The Dates. This wouldn’t have been much of a hassle if we weren’t having a destination wedding. The save the dates need to be out 9-12 months before the wedding. This gives us about a month to take pictures and get these out to our guests. However, I have something up my sleeve.. Save the Dates are so cliché and I wanted to do something different (and cost effective.)

I told Chris my idea and he loved it, so instead of Save the Dates, we did…..
